RICE Field • Preparing the Field

These men are part of a team who traded off working with the ox team in this rice field outside of Kollegal, India. Some dug out the field (by hand) and fortified the mud channels. The highest skilled worked the animals, calling, tapping them with their whip and sometimes pulling their tails. Overhead was the main road heading into town. Most of the other rice fields around this area had just been harvested (February 2014).
