Here’s where I stayed, in an old traditional shop house. The owner, Mr. Teh, came in about two or three times a month to pray to the gods at the family alter. I stayed together with a british fellow who sported a thick 1860’s mustache.

When it would rain, the water flowed in from the roof, through the kitchen gutters and under the house to a pipe outside. In the old days all the junk (food, waste, etc) would all be dumped into the gutters in the streets. Heavy rains helped to wash them farther down the street where eventually, they’d empty into a small stream and then the ocean…

I liked to go around the corner and steal cookies from the cookie jar at Narrow Marrow. Jamie kicked me out while Ammar laughed. Alvin (not pictured) is the bouncer.
